Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Century). They were the clear victors by a 20-3 margin over the Agape Christian Knights on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Centurions in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won five in a row.
Jaylee Vanmeter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Vanmeter was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Hayden Anderson was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Baylea Crain, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Century always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Agape Christian only posted an OBP of .333.
Century now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Agape Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Century will welcome Pope County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
