Softball Recap: HCYA's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

HCYA waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Incarnate Word Academy Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win HCYA has posted since January 28th.

Kiran Kyham was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bijan Ali, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

HCYA was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .455 or higher in six consecutive contests.

HCYA's victory bumped their record up to 17-5-2. As for Incarnate Word Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4-1.

Coming up, HCYA will face off against St. John's at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. St. John's knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully HCYA likes a good challenge. As for Incarnate Word Academy, their road trip will continue as they head out to face First Baptist Christian at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. Incarnate Word Academy is facing First Baptist Christian at the right time seeing as First Baptist Christian is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
