Baseball Recap: Cotter Has No Trouble Against Calico Rock

Cotter's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 14-4 margin over the Calico Rock Pirates. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won six in a row.

Colt Crownover was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Crownover was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Cotter got a big performance out of Cody Garay, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. AJ Lyon also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Cotter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calico Rock only posted an OBP of .462.

The victory got Cotter back to even at 2-2. As for Calico Rock, their record is now 4-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cotter will face off against Lead Hill at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Calico Rock, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Cave City at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
