Lewis Angapak's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashton White, who scored 20 points. White is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 17 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Anthony Castel, who scored 14 points.
Hooper Bay was led to victory by Latrell Lake and Carson Long. Lake scored 21 points, while Long scored 32 points. Long hasn't dropped below 17 points for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Billy Smith, who scored nine points.
Lewis Angapak's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Hooper Bay, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.
Lewis Angapak will be playing in front of their home fans against Russian Mission on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Alaska (Lewis Angapak is ranked 42nd, while Russian Mission is ranked 52nd). Hooper Bay is on the road again on Thursday and plays Alakanuk at 6:30 p.m. on February 1st. Hooper Bay has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 958 points over their last 13 matches.
