The L.C. Bird Skyhawks lost against the Manchester Lancers back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. L.C. Bird received a tough blow as they fell 22-7 to Manchester. It was the first time this season that L.C. Bird let down their fans at home.
Bradley Hurt threw for 101 yards and a touchdown. Elijah Coleman was his top target, picking up 33 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, La'Tavion Lowe rushed for 73 yards.
The team won by holding L.C. Bird to a paltry no rushing yards and no passing yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Manchester's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Makai Byerson and his two sacks.
L.C. Bird's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Manchester, the victory was the seventh in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
L.C. Bird will head out on the road to face off against Cosby at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cosby will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 201st, while L.C. Bird is ranked 93rd). As for Manchester, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Richmond City School of the Arts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Richmond City School of the Arts comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
