On Wednesday, Verdugo Hills strolled past the Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 62-44. Given Verdugo Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 414th, while the Eagles are ranked 1291st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Gianmarco Figueroa, who almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. He hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Garik Yepremyan, who scored nine points along with eight assists and four steals.
Meanwhile, North Hollywood came up short against the Parrots on Wednesday and fell 53-44. North Hollywood has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Verdugo Hills pushed their record up to 16-11 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.7 points per game. As for North Hollywood, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season.
