The Westminster Schools of Augusta Wildcats stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They put the hurt on St. Andrew with a sharp 53-31 win. Given Westminster Schools of Augusta's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while St. Andrew's is ranked 448th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westminster Schools of Augusta to victory, but perhaps none more so than India Williams, who scored 25 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least a third of Westminster Schools of Augusta's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aimee Spurlock, who scored 16 points along with five steals.
St. Andrew's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Coco Carnahan, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds.
The win (which was Westminster Schools of Augusta's third in a row) raised their record to 10-2. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 20.67 points. As for St. Andrew's, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
Westminster Schools of Augusta will head out on the road to challenge Fox Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Fox Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Thursday. As for St. Andrew's, they will stay at home for another game and welcome May River at 4:15 p.m. on January 13th. May River's defense has only allowed 27.4 points per game this season, so St. Andrew's offense will have their work cut out for them.
