Given Boca Raton's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Palmer Trinity is ranked 90th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Palmer Trinity still got an impressive performance from Jade Leon, who scored 28 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Leon has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mati Veloso, who scored three points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Boca Raton's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Palmer Trinity, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boca Raton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pahokee at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. As for Palmer Trinity, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Pine Crest at 5:00 p.m.
