Basketball Recap: Michael Gray's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Memphis School of Excellence - Cordova over Middle College

The Memphis School of Excellence - Cordova Eagles came up short against the Middle College Bulldogs on Tuesday, falling 72-47.

Memphis School of Excellence - Cordova's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Michael Gray, who went 7-for-16 to rack up 16 points and three steals. Gray is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alan Valentine, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Memphis School of Excellence - Cordova's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Middle College, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Memphis School of Excellence - Cordova will challenge Cordova at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Middle College, they will face off against St. Benedict at Auburndale at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
