Make it five blowout wins for the Oxford Prep Griffins this season. They put the hurt on Eno River with a sharp 61-35 win on Tuesday. Given Oxford Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while Eno River is ranked 627th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
AleYaun Heggie was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jamarri Glover, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and six steals.
When it comes to explaining why Eno River lost, one person who can't be blamed is Corey Amyot. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points along with two blocks.
Oxford Prep is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Eno River, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oxford Prep will challenge Henderson Collegiate at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Eno River, they will head out on the road to take on Vance Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
