The East Columbus Gators are taking a road trip to  take on the Whiteville Wolfpack  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. East Columbus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8  runs per game  this season.
On Thursday, East Columbus didn't have quite enough to beat South View and fell  10-9.
 Landyn Jacobs was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He  pitched two innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. He has been consistent  recently: he hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs while going 3-for-4.
 In other batting news,  Brooks Mclean stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 2-for-4 with one  home run, three  RBI,  and two  runs. Those  runs marked the first that  he  scored this season.  Mack Freeman was another key player,  going 2-for-4 with three  RBI and one  triple.
 Meanwhile, Whiteville didn't have quite enough to beat East Columbus on Tuesday and fell  4-3. The loss was the Wolfpack's first of the season.
 Having lost for the first time  this season, Whiteville  fell to 9-1. As for East Columbus, they have  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record  this season.
 East Columbus came out on top in a nail-biter against Whiteville in their previous matchup  on Tuesday, sneaking past  4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gators since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
