It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 49-16, which was the final score in Center Place's tilt against Christian Learning Center on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Center Place has scored all season.
Center Place's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Isabelle Howen, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Rylie Kroesen who scored five points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Center Place smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Christian Learning Center only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 55 points the game before, El Dorado Christian were a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 54-20 loss at the hands of Berean Christian Academy. El Dorado Christian has not had much luck with Berean Christian Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite the loss, El Dorado Christian had strong showings from Breann Reasoner, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds, and Sophia Bryson, who scored no points. Reasoner is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 11 games she's played.
Center Place's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for El Dorado Christian, they dropped their record down to 10-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Center Place have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 35.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like El Dorado Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 37.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Center Place against El Dorado Christian in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 47-19 win. With Center Place ahead 26-6 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
