Liberty-Benton has gone a perfect 3-0 against Carey recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Eagles will welcome the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Liberty-Benton took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Columbian get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Eagles have won three games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Sophie McDaniel, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Erdeljac, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Liberty-Benton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbian only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, Carey didn't have quite enough to beat Bucyrus on Wednesday and fell 14-13.
Trinity Reinhart and Danika Hanna did some serious damage despite the final result: Reinhart went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Hanna went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Garnyr McKelvey, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Liberty-Benton pushed their record up to 4-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Carey, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.
Everything went Liberty-Benton's way against Carey when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Liberty-Benton made off with a 10-1 win. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
