The Central Valley Christian Cavaliers had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-42 victory over Los Gatos on Saturday. Central Valley Christian's victory was all the more impressive since Los Gatos was averaging only 16.33 points allowed on the season.
It was another big night for Bryson Donelson, who rushed for 202 yards and three touchdowns, and also picked up 91 receiving yards and a touchdown. His longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Brent Kroeze was another key contributor, throwing for 246 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75.9% of his passes.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aj Minyard, who threw for 356 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Those 356 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Minyard. Jaylen Thomas also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
The win (which was Central Valley Christian's 12th in a row) raised their record to 15-1. As for Los Gatos, their loss dropped their record down to 12-3.
Central Valley Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Los Gatos also has no future games currently scheduled.
