Gerstell Academy came tearing into Wednesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They secured a 63-58 W over Indian Creek. Given Gerstell Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Eagles are ranked 190th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Indian Creek saw an underclassman step up: Kyle Harvin scored 19 points. Harvin continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Evans, who scored 13 points.
Gerstell Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Indian Creek, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gerstell Academy will face off against the Saints at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Indian Creek, they will head out on the road to challenge the Dons at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Loyola Blakefield's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matchups.
