Pickens has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Greenville Red Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Pickens is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Greenville in South Carolina (Pickens is ranked 11th, while Greenville is ranked 105th).
Even though Pickens has not done well against Easley recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Pickens walked away with a 42-31 win over Easley.
Pickens found their leader in underclassman Ava Owens, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Owens is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Chambers, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Greenville posted their biggest victory yet this season on Monday. They blew past Berea 56-34. With Greenville ahead 36-15 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Pickens' victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Greenville, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.
Everything came up roses for Pickens against Greenville in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 64-29 win. With Pickens ahead 32-12 at the half, the match was all but over already.
