The Rocky Mountain Lobos will challenge the Windsor Wizards at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Rocky Mountain is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Fossil Ridge, who was ranked 15th at the time (Rocky Mountain was ranked 25th). The Lobos fell just short of the SaberCats by a score of 15-13 on Thursday.
Riley Honick led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Eli Murphy, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Windsor waltzed into their game on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They came out on top against the Mavericks by a score of 6-2. The six-run effort marked the Wizards' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Wyatt Gustafson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Windsor's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Fillinger, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Izaak Haro was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Windsor's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Rocky Mountain, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season.
Rocky Mountain came out on top in a nail-biter against Windsor in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, sneaking past 6-5. Do the Lobos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wizards turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
