West Davidson is a perfect 10-0 against South Davidson since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. West Davidson will head out to challenge South Davidson at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
West Davidson is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Salisbury on Wednesday as West Davidson made off with a 22-1 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Mahala Darnell and Hannah Rollins were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Darnell pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Rollins tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in May of 2024. At bat, Darnell went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI, while Rollins went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Rollins also put up a triple, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, West Davidson got a massive performance out of Maci Harris, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Harris is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Taylor Prince, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.
West Davidson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, South Davidson never let their opponents score on Thursday. They blew past Lexington 21-0. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
West Davidson has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. South Davidson's record is now 4-2.
Everything went West Davidson's way against South Davidson in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as West Davidson made off with a 15-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Davidson since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
