The Wolfe County Wolves pushed their score all the way to 74 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 80-74 hit to the loss column at the hands of Magoffin County. Wolfe County lost against Magoffin County in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 65-46 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Wolfe County saw an underclassman step up: Caleb Creech dropped a double-double on 31 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Skylar Ritche, who scored 6 points along with 11 rebounds.
Wolfe County's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Magoffin County, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wolfe County will challenge Menifee County at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Magoffin County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Perry County Central at 7:30 p.m. on December 1st.
