The Emerald Vikings waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 56-23 win over Union County. That's another feather in the cap for Emerald, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Emerald to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ti'yonia Tennant, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 rebounds and nine steals. Tennant is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Smith, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Emerald's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Union County, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Emerald will challenge the Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clinton will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Union County is on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Wolverines at 6:15 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Woodruff focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Friday.
