East Lansing is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Byron Center is on a nine-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The East Lansing Trojans will take on the Byron Center Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
With a playoff game on the line, East Lansing rose to the challenge on Friday. They claimed a resounding 35-7 victory over Lakeland at home. The result was nothing new for East Lansing, who have now won six contests by 22 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Jace Clarizio, who rushed for 185 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. Clarizio was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. Another player making a difference was Benjamin Fletcher, who punched in a rushing score.
Meanwhile, Byron Center faced Caledonia in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Byron Center had just enough and edged Caledonia out 31-28.
Their wins bumped East Lansing to 9-2 and Byron Center to 10-1.
