Mid-Indiana Football recap Oct. 30, 2012
Eastern Hancock moved up to 167 from 194 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Mid-Indiana Football. The Royals climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Northeastern 34-6.
Indian Creek extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Beech Grove, 28-8. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Braves.
South Decatur's dynamic duo of Chris Johannigman and Byron Balser proved tough for West Washington to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Johannigman threw for 241 yards and one touchdown and Balser had 99 yards receiving. Josh Miller helped South Decatur's passing attack out by catching six balls for 70 yards.
Scott Pennington was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 231 yards on 32 carries as Milan lost to the Senators. Teammate Brandon Beard added to the ground attack by rushing for 74 yards.
Indian Creek's Matthew Wray and Brenden Smith have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Mid-Indiana Football in both passing and receiving yards. Wray has thrown for 2358 yards this season, while Smith, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 69 catches for 1014 yards. Jason Kirchhoff from North Decatur leads the league in rushing with 1572 yards.
Eastern Hancock took down the Knights 34-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
