Fans got a thrill when Nick Jones and Josh Johnson connected against Conway. The connection went for 61 yards, the longest such play in AAAA Region VI this season.
South Florence added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Tigers, 48-19. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
South Florence's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jones threw for 292 and 5 touchdowns and Tabari Hines had 168 yards receiving. On the ground Rodney Brunson contributed 60 yards. Johnson helped South Florence's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 91 yards.
He was 21-24 with 0 interceptions.
Brunson was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 60 yards on 13 carries as David Prince's team topped Conway. Teammate Jones added to the ground attack by rushing for 20 yards.
South Florence's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Bruins feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jones has thrown for 1,858 yards and 28 touchdowns this season, while Hines has 42 catches for 642 yards.
The Bruins' Jones is within 142 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Stratford.
A big matchup in AAAA Region VI this week will be when Carolina Forest takes on West Florence. The Panthers are currently in fifth, while the Knights are in second.
