It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Indian River Indians had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They snuck past Brandywine with a 14-10 victory. Winning may never get old, but Indian River sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Indian River was led to victory by Darnell Stokes and Dylan Grise. Stokes picked up 101 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Grise rushed for 17 yards and a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Brandywine still got an impressive performance from Cris Wright, who rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown.
Indian River pushed their record up to 8-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 Early College (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.6% over those games). As for Brandywine, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.
Indian River will head out on the road to face off against Tatnall at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Tatnall's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last eight contests. Brandywine does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
