The Wesson Cobras lost against the South Pike Eagles on January 5th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Wesson fell to South Pike 42-37. Wesson has not had much luck with South Pike recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
South Pike found their leader in underclassman Deanna Lewis, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Lewis pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alannah Pittman, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
Wesson's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-9. As for South Pike, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Wesson will square off against Franklin County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklin County is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for South Pike, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jefferson County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Jefferson County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while South Pike is ranked 106th).
