The Boaz Pirates will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Oakwood Academy Mustangs at 11:30 a.m. on December 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Boaz is ranked 197th, while Oakwood Academy is ranked 220th).
Last Friday, Boaz's game was all tied up 30-30 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They snuck past Smyrna with a 55-49 victory.
Meanwhile, Oakwood Academy pushed their score all the way to 76 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Woodville by a score of 79-76. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Saturday (63), Oakwood Academy still had to take the loss.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Daniel Jones, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. William Lee was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Even though they lost, Oakwood Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Boaz is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-8 record this season. As for Oakwood Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-7.
