Rocky Mount relied on the efforts of Keysha Mizzell, who scored 20 points along with five steals, and McKinley Battle, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mizzell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Amia Bryant, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Roanoke Rapids suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were the victim of a rough 49-28 defeat at the hands of Nash Central. While losing is never fun, Roanoke Rapids can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 485th, while Nash Central is ranked 206th).
The losing side was boosted by Shaniah Daniels, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 22 rebounds. Daniels is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Rocky Mount's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Roanoke Rapids, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Wednesday's contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Rocky Mount have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Roanoke Rapids struggles in that department as they've been averaging 41.3 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
