Make it nine blowout wins for the Downers Grove South Mustangs this season. They were the clear victor by a 55-33 margin over Willowbrook. Given Downers Grove South's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Warriors are ranked 234th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the defeat, Willowbrook had strong showings from Elle Bruschuk, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, and Ayaani Gusman, who scored 12 points. Bruschuk is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played.
Downers Grove South is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-12 record this season. As for Willowbrook, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-17.
