The Eagle Ridge Academy Warriors were the 37-29 winner over The Academy Wildcats when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Eagle Ridge Academy fell 52-42 to The Academy on Friday. Eagle Ridge Academy just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
Eagle Ridge Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Carole Tamburino, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds. Tamburino has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi DiLorenzo, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Eagle Ridge Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as The Academy only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Rylyn Romero was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored 21 points along with five assists and five steals. Malea Yurchak was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Eagle Ridge Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-5. As for The Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eagle Ridge Academy will take on St. Mary's Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully St. Mary's Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday. As for The Academy, they will be playing at home against Stargate School at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Stargate School is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
