The Sumner Spartans are taking a road trip to challenge the Rogers Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Sumner and Emerald Ridge, and Sumner kept the tradition alive. The Spartans walked away with a 10-5 win over the Jaguars on Monday.
Josslyn Sorensen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Sumner got a massive performance out of Riley Meyers, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Meyers a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bailey Flowers, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Sumner always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Emerald Ridge only posted an OBP of .353.
Rogers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 7, 2025 (when they won 18-1). Everything went their way against Curtis as they made off with a 20-4 victory. With that win, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 7.8 runs per game.
Sierra Murray (2028) was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those runs were her first of the season.
The victory made it two in a row for Rogers and bumps their season record up to 2-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Sumner, their record now sits at 2-0.
