Danny Scott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Tarpon Springs is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-14 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aaron Unbehagen, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.
Meanwhile, while Calvary Christian put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Lakewood. The Warriors put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 11-0 victory. Considering the Warriors have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Luke Straw looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Matthew Bowser was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Brett Garcy was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
The win was the third in a row for Calvary Christian, bringing their record up to 23-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Tarpon Springs, their record now sits at 13-14.
Tarpon Springs might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Calvary Christian when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Can the Spongers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
