Basketball Recap: Shandon Camas Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Jackpot

McDermitt won the last time they faced Jackpot and things went their way on Friday too. The McDermitt Bulldogs put the hurt on the Jackpot Jaguars with a sharp 62-41 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

McDermitt's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shandon Camas led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 16 boards. Camas is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. Warrick Crutcher was another key player, going 7 of 12 on his way to 19 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

McDermitt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 16 consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Jackpot still got an impressive performance from Jorge Avila, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Mateo Lopez also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

McDermitt is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points per game. As for Jackpot, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

Coincidentally, McDermitt and Jackpot will both be playing Wells the next time they take the court. McDermitt will host Wells at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Jackpot will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
