Last week wasn't at all kind to Eureka, but their most recent contest may have softened the blow. Everything went their way against Whittell on Friday as they made off with a 36-8 win. Whittell can consider this payback for the 18-42 defeat they dealt Eureka the last time the teams encountered one another.
Eureka's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 16 points in the first half. Meanwhile, Whittell couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 16-0 heading into the break. The Eureka defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 8 and all but finishing the matchup. The victory bumped their record up to 2-1. The loss dropped Whittell back to even at 1-1.
Next week Eureka take on Round Mountain at Round Mountain HS at 7:00 PM. As for Whittell, they will face off against Tonopah.
