The Harrison Wildcats will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Taylor Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Harrison's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
Harrison pushed their score all the way to 57 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Milford by a score of 60-57. While losing is never fun, Harrison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while Milford is ranked 83rd).
Despite their loss, Harrison saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Alli Robertson, who scored 18 points, was perhaps the best of all. Robertson scored a full 31.6% of Harrison's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Seiter, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Taylor beat Mariemont 47-43 on Tuesday. The victory was just what Taylor needed coming off of a 56-23 loss in their prior match.
Harrison's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Taylor, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Harrison couldn't quite finish off Taylor in their previous matchup back in December of 2019 and fell 48-45. Can Harrison avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
