NOGALES, Ariz. -
Nogales (Ariz.) received a huge boost from its defense against Cholla (Tucson, Ariz.), as the unit scored 12 in defeating Cholla (Tucson, Ariz.), 56-0.
The Apaches were up 42-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Brian McCarty in the first quarter.
Nogales expanded its lead to 56 points entering the fourth quarter. NHS scored two times in the third, including once on a
David Oropeza touchdown run.
McCarty played well for the Apaches in the victory. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns and caught one touchdown.
Nogales came into the game allowing 17.0 points per game.
NHS also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 47-0.
The win was a nice bounce back for the Apaches, which lost to Salpointe Catholic last week, 42-7.
In a non-conference game next week Nogales (7-2) takes on Pueblo, and Cholla (0-9) will go up against Mountain View in a II Section II game.
