The East Robertson Indians will take on the Huntingdon Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as East Robertson comes in on 12 and Huntingdon on nine.
East Robertson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 35-14 margin over Peabody. Considering the Indians have won eight games by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
A big part of East Robertson's win came down to the chemistry between Kason Young and his top target Cade Brooks. Young rushed for 64 yards and one score on only nine carries while Brooks rushed for 47 yards.
East Robertson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 361 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August.
East Robertson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Zayviyan Groves and Kris Groves. Kris got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Lewis County typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Huntingdon proved too difficult a challenge. They really took it to the Panthers for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-22 victory. The Mustangs are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the ninth matchup they've won by 20+ points this season.
Huntingdon's win came from a few key players East Robertson will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kenton Smith, who threw for 95 yards and a pair of TDs. K'Shun Carter helped Smith out on the ground, rushing for 50 yards and one touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Huntingdon's defense and their six sacks. In that department, Owen King was the leader with two. Broox Bennett was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 15 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
East Robertson's record now sits at 12-0. As for Huntingdon, their record is now 11-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. East Robertson has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 198.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Huntingdon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 237.7 rushing yards.
