Baseball Recap: Taft School Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hamden Hall Country Day, Taft School was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Trinity-Pawling School Pride 5-4. For the Big Red, this counts as revenge for the 9-4 win the Pride walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Owen Palmer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs and one stolen base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two runs, the most he's had since back in May of 2025.

In other pitching news, Bowen Oberle tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

Palmer wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Skerritt, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Kevin Cestari also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Taft School lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Taft School's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Trinity-Pawling School, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Taft School will be playing at home against Choate Rosemary Hall School at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Trinity-Pawling School, they will venture away from home to face off against Canterbury School at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
