In other batting news, Haley Ocumen and Elli Hornstein did most of the damage at the plate: Ocumen went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Hornstein went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two runs gave Hornstein a new career-high. Sienna Wilson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Willow Glen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Branham's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Los Gatos on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Bruins' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Branham saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ellie Bliss, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Branham now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Willow Glen, they pushed their record up to 15-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Branham's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Willow Glen hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. It's a different story for Branham, though, as they've only averaged .252. Will they be able to contain Willow Glen's hitters?
Willow Glen was able to grind out a solid win over Branham in their previous matchup back in March, winning 5-0. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Bruins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
