The Rocky Mountain Lobos had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past Northglenn with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 61-45. Given Rocky Mountain's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Northglenn is ranked 201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rocky Mountain found their leader in underclassman Peyton Matkin, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Maddox Base, who scored nine points along with five assists and two steals.
Northglenn's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leo Lin, who scored 12 points. Trevor Dean was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
The win got Rocky Mountain back to even at 10-10. As for Northglenn, they dropped their record down to 7-12 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Rocky Mountain will take on Fossil Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Fossil Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
