The Prairie Heights Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Concord 70-39. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Prairie Heights has suffered since December 2, 2023.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ava Boots, who scored 11 points along with three steals. Emily McCrea was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Concord's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shelby Emerick, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points and 4 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Emerick has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kambrya Zilm, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
Prairie Heights' defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Concord, their win bumped their record up to 9-12.
Prairie Heights won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Woodlan at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Woodlan is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.9 points per game. Concord on the road again on Tuesday and play against Penn at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Penn presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Concord in Indiana (Penn is ranked 64th, while Concord is ranked 207th).
