The Collierville Dragons will take on the Haywood Tomcats in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (Collierville is ranked 70th, while Haywood is ranked 72nd).
Last Friday, Collierville slipped by Southwind 42-41.
Meanwhile, Haywood waltzed into their match Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They managed a 66-62 win over Jackson South Side. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Haywood's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaybyon Snipe, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. Jacari Comage was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
Collierville's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Haywood, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Collierville strolled past Haywood when the teams last played back in November of 2020 by a score of 70-52. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Haywood's Janerus Snipe, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be that much easier for Collierville to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
