Oakwood never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] last Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Titans.
Caydence Vermillion made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Vermillion was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Irene Rangel was incredible, firing off three home runs, 11 RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-4. Lainee Smith was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three runs.
Oakwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] only posted an OBP of .471.
Oakwood's victory bumped their record up to 3-4-1. As for Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Oakwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
