The Clay-Battelle Cee Bees's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. The New Year welcomed they with a 80-42 whooping from Tyler. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Clay-Battelle in their matchups with Tyler: they've now lost three in a row.
Leading Tyler to victory were Jules Lattea and Braeden Wall. Lattea dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds, while Wall scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals. That's the first time this season that Wall pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Maleah Weber, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Clay-Battelle's defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-5. As for Tyler, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clay-Battelle won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Tygarts Valley at 6:30 p.m. on January 5th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in West Virginia (Tygarts Valley is ranked 103rd, while Clay-Battelle is ranked 112th). As for Tyler, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Wirt County at 7:00 p.m.
