Keura Roloff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ginny Gores was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Brinley Gretz, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, South St. Paul was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Two Rivers, falling 14-6.
Audrey Madson was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and 11 unearned) runs off six hits. Madson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Sidney Thompson was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those stolen bases were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sophie Bebeau, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Apple Valley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for South St. Paul, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Apple Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against South St. Paul in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
