James Logan is 8-2 against Newark Memorial since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Colts will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
James Logan took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Moreau Catholic. With that victory, the Colts brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

James Logan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Moreau Catholic only posted an OBP of .316.
Meanwhile, Newark Memorial had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with an 18-1 win.
Caitlyn Rose made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rose was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Ariana Romo looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Mahlyah Sao, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and four RBI. Alyvia Costa was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Newark Memorial pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for James Logan, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. James Logan hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Newark Memorial struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.2 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
James Logan was able to grind out a solid win over Newark Memorial in their previous meeting on April 1st, winning 7-2. Will the Colts repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
