Adding to the longest winning streak in Sunflower this week, East beat Olathe East 20-13. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
East made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 565 from 728. The improvement was largely due to a 20-13 victory over the Hawks last week.
Olathe East's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Connor Leach threw for 122 and 1 touchdown and Branden Trinkle had 80 yards receiving. On the ground Jalen Branson contributed 151 yards. Connor Alexander helped Olathe East's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 28 yards.
Branson was a passing and rushing force as Jeff Meyers' team lost to Dustin Delaney's team. Branson's key target this week was Trinkle, who caught 7 passes for 80 yards.
Leach put up the best numbers in passing as the Hawks lost to the Lancers.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Isaiah Ross. The Leavenworth star has 33 catches for 507 yards.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between East and North. The Lancers comes into the matchup ranked 10th in the state, while the Eagles ranks sixth.
Jordan Brown has rushed for 952 yards on 186 carries so far this year.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when East takes on North. The Lancers have allowed 145 points this season, while the Eagles have given up 146.
