In what's become a running theme this season, the Whitko Wildcats gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 66-33 win over Northfield. Given Whitko's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while Northfield is ranked 401st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Whitko's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sam Essegian, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kyler Krull, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Whitko and bumps their season record up to 7-3. As for Northfield, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.
Whitko won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Prairie Heights at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. Prairie Heights is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Northfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Rochester at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Rochester focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Friday.
