Softball Recap: Powell Gets the Win

While Powell's win against West wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Rebels on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won five in a row.

Powell let Gabby Kraatz and Jaylan Heatherly run wild. Kraatz went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs, while Heatherly got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Madison Crawley was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Powell's record now sits at 9-3. As for West, they moved to 5-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Powell will challenge Union County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West, they will take on Halls at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Rebels' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
