Laton is a perfect 9-0 against Alpaugh since September of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will be playing at home against the Buffalos at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Laton's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 74-0 victory over Tehillah Christian Academy. The win was just business as usual for the Mustangs, who after five games remain undefeated this season.
Laton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jovanni Lopez and Luis Montes De Oca. Lopez got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Alpaugh got the win against Mojave on Friday by a conclusive 26-6. The victory continues a trend for the Buffalos in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.
Laton better keep an eye on Joshua Banuelos. He was instrumental in Alpaugh's win, rushing for 120 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 carries.
Alpaugh was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 261 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 195 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
One reason for the win was Alpaugh's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Adrian Alfaro and David Loera, who racked up four sacks between them. Alfaro is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least ten every time he's taken the field this season.
Laton's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Alpaugh, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 5-0.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Laton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 199 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Alpaugh struggles in that department as they've been averaging 271 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Laton against Alpaugh when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 44-12 win. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Buffalos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
