KANSAS CITY, Kan. -
Piper (Kansas City, Kan.) saw its 12-point lead dwindle to six, but still managed to hang on and defeat
Basehor-Linwood (Basehor, Kan.) 12-6 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Tanner Eikenbary touchdown pass to
Jake Jones in the first quarter, the Pirates were up 6-0 at the half.
Basehor-Linwood's only touchdown came on a pass from undefined to
Jahron McPherson in the fourth quarter.
The victory was a completely different match up compared to last season's game between these two teams, which the Bobcats took, 39-13.
The win was a nice bounce back for Piper, which lost to Eudora last week, 12-7. The loss comes after Basehor-Linwood defeated Bishop Ward 27-6 last week.
Piper (1-1) will play a Kaw Valley game against Tonganoxie next week, while Basehor-Linwood (1-1) will take on Mill Valley also in a Kaw Valley game.
